I can't [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes this because it didn't originate on LJ. Woe, for I found it most amusing. This is from the comments on the Palin-Couric interview, on CBS' website, and the author identifies themselves as "gnat007":

I recently interviewed Sarah Palin. Here's how it went.

Me: What day is it today?

Sarah Palin: There are 7 days in a week. There are many days. We could choose from many different days.

Me: Yes, but what day is today?

Sarah Palin: Today could be one of 7 days. And I have a great appreciation for how beautifully the week is set up. I mean, our question might even be rephrased to ask if we haven't lost sight of the bigger picture, where the day is just a small part of what constitutes a week, which would be yet another part of what is known as the month.

Me: I just want to know what day it is, specifically.

Sarah Palin: Any and all of them that have come and gone. I have always been comfortable with any and all of them. My point, however, is that it all comes back to the year. I am someone who believes that the voiceless can count on me to represent the calendar in an unbiased way, from within one of the highest offices of government. After all, I have always made myself clear, and I am not apologetic about who I am. There are 30 days in a month and 52 weeks in a year. I was born in the 20th century, and this might already be the 21st , who knows? Here, our sense of the space-time continuum has come to be challenged by those who insist they must know what day of the week we are presently at. And I think it needs to be addressed in concrete terms for the good of the American people. Thank you.

I'm posting this for those who don't know yet, because I only found out a little while ago.

The above video shows a young woman, a peaceful protester holding a flower, being hit and pepper-sprayed by police in full riot gear.

This is happening in St. Paul. People are being arrested and their homes raided for planning to protest at the RNC.

(And before anyone else brings this up: yes, I know there may have been some similar activity when people demonstrated at the DNC. That does not make this any less despicable.)

Text quoted from the AFA website:

"Procter & Gamble has resumed using explicit, open-mouth homosexual kissing in their soap opera, "As the World Turns." P&G decided to include this type of content as a commitment to "diversity." P&G stopped showing such scenes some months ago, but has now decided to again help promote the homosexual agenda which includes homosexual marriage.

Gay activists are hopeful that the P&G effort will desensitize viewers to the homosexual lifestyle and help make the unhealthy and immoral lifestyle more acceptable to society, especially to children and youth.

View a scene [link removed] from the April 23, 2008 episode by P&G. WARNING – content is repulsive! (Actually, this is the scene they link to. Such repulsive affection!)

"As the World Turns" is owned and controlled completely by P&G. No network made this decision. P&G alone made the decision to support the homosexual agenda."

P&G is conducting a phone poll to see if people are for or against the Luke/Noah storyline on As The World Turns. Even if you don't watch the show, please a moment to thwart homophobic bigotry. The poll is completely automated. You don't have to talk to anyone. And it takes all of a second to register your opinion.

Call 1-800-331-3774. Follow the automated menu to the poll on the Luke/Noah storyline, and please vote to support it.

Seriously, people? Do this. I need submissions, and it would be cool to be able to edit some people I actually know into the montage. :)

Unrelated: This video is made of amazing and win and I am now obsessed with the song. But why isn't Tinkerbell involved? She's one of the "bitchiest" Disney gals out there. Maybe it was too easy.

In a similar vein to the above: this.

Seriously, this was the first Super Bowl I've been interested in for a reason other than the commercials or the halftime show. And my team WON. WHEE!

A queez!

You are breakfasty, like a pile of pancakes on a Sunday morning that have just the right amount of syrup, so every bite is sweet perfection and not a soppy mess. You are a glass of orange juice that's cool, refreshing, and not overly pulpy. You are the time of day that's just right for turning the pages of a newspaper, flipping through channels, or clicking around online to get a sense of how the world changed during the night. You don't want to stumble sleepily through life, so you make a real effort to wake your brain up and get it thinking. You feel inspired to accomplish things (whether it's checking something off your to-do list or changing the world), but there's plenty of time for making things happen later in the day. First, pancakes.

I wasn't able to stay awake the whole 24 hours, but I caught at least some of every film shown. The sleep deprivation made my cold go OH NOES, but 12 hours of sleep later I felt much better. I also stayed in today with John in order to further facilitate recovery- we're watching the Packers/Giants game now.

I have a bit of a headache... There's more news, but I'm too tired to write out more of a post.

The Bad News: I still have a cold.
The Good News: During the night it's moved from my throat to partially in my nose, so singing shouldn't be very painful.

-Decide which songs I'll be singing for auditions.
-Blockbuster to return movies
-Jewel to pick up B-Fest supplies
-Jewelry store to pick up my finished pendant
-Pack B-Fest bag

This is a post.

If your life were a newspaper, what would today's main headline be?

a_leprechaun: (Default)
So because I didn't have much to do today between a short audition and 8 o'clock, I went to Blockbuster and rented two movies- Pulp Fiction and Benny and Joon. Mostly so people will stop telling me I have to see them every time I mention I haven't.

Blockbuster also had Plunkett and Macleane, which ZOMG FLAIL YAY. Assuming the disc's in good shape, I'll be forking over the extra $10 so's I can keep it.

Update on the freak-out scenario from a few days ago: someone crossed their name off in the 5 o'clock slot, so now I can have my B-Fest and audition too. :D Joy and jubilance!

Tonight there will be more clubbing as we go downtown to celebrate a birthday. Goooood times.
