I wasn't planning on changing it until today. But [livejournal.com profile] drewpersons opened my eyes to the concept of self-photography using a timer (yeah, I'm slow), and so today on a whim I just started taking pictures in an attempt to showcase the Character of Me, the Me I've been striving to be for the last 7-odd years, the qualities I see in myself and I hope people see in me. The title then came out of the following quote:

“Fantasies are more than substitutes for unpleasant reality; they are also dress rehearsals, plans. All acts performed in the world begin in the imagination.” -Barbara Grizzuti Harrison

(And out of, y'know, that whole acting thing.)

Farewell Magic Butterfly, you had a great run.

And now I need to study Japanese before [livejournal.com profile] strangemiss takes us all out for a tasty Easter supper. Mmm.

In Massachusetts, where it is gorgeous weather. I saw my first live production of Hamlet yesterday at Shake&Co. Jason Asprey was brill, as was his mum, Tina Packer, as Gertrude. How awesome is that casting?

[livejournal.com profile] lanthiriel and I went canoeing just now. The waves gave us a little ride XD

Seeing "Superman Returns" tonight.

^ LOVE.
Every once in a while, when I stop by Barnes n Noble, I'll take a stroll through their New Age section, where my reactions generally range from, "Hmm, maybe, I'll have to check the reviews on Amazon" to "Seriously, WTF???". But this book I picked up, flipped through a few pages, and thought, "MUST HAVE". Luckily for my bank account, I was able to hold off on buying it until, through a combo of Amazon and MTurk, I was able to get a copy for only 95 cents out-of-pocket.
And, yeah. Seriously recommended for anyone with interest in this sorta thing. Very straightforward and very personal, with plenty of room for one to shape the information around their own beliefs--while still being very informative!

Love love love.

Moving on.

New Layout! Bros Grimm/Into the Woods lasted me about 5 months, but it was time for a change. So now we have Magic Butterfly. Definitely my... shiniest of layouts to date XD and also the most subtly fandom-connected: the Magic Butterfly was a creature in the video game Earthbound, that restored one's Psychic Power when you came in contact with it. That's the sprite in the background. ^__^
Also, new Default icon. Compare:

Same scarf, new haircut. :P

On to more real-life stuff. [livejournal.com profile] herophelia and [livejournal.com profile] rosesfade are in town, for the second time ever, and that makes me shiny. We went into Chicago tonight to see Josh Charles perform in the new play, 'The Well-Appointed Room'. Some very good monologues in that, must get a copy of this play when/if it is published... if it isn't already. (ETA: It is not. Sadface.)
We also got pics with Mr. Charles, but they're on [livejournal.com profile] herophelia's camera, so I has them not.

Kingdomality Profile: Your distinct personality, The Dreamer-Minstrel might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. You can always see the "Silver Lining" to every dark and dreary cloud. Look at the bright side is your motto and understanding why everything happens for the best is your goal. You are the positive optimist of the world who provides the hope for all humankind. There is nothing so terrible that you can not find some good within it. On the positive side, you are spontaneous, charismatic, idealistic and empathic. On the negative side, you may be a sentimental dreamer who is emotionally impractical. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms.

Cosmos is one of the most awesome books ever. I'm learning all sorts of random crap from it that have almost nothing to do with Astronomy. Did you know medieval French monks believed baby rabbits were a type of fish?

Also, apparently I can't go more than two days this month without a post.

Also, apparently LJ decided to change the _ in my username to a -.

Shiny new info page. Shiiiiiny.

On another note, I am reminded recently of something my Chorus teacher used to say:
"Every day, do something that frightens you."

So THAT'S why I do all this.

On another another note, the play-a-million-times song of the mo:
Hemisphere // Maaya Sakamoto
That song's got power, man.

Constantine--a friend of mine from high school who joined the Marines--friended me on Facebook today.
My first thought was, "Thank God he's alive."
I never actually knew whether he was sent to Iraq or wherever, but I wouldn't doubt it if he had.

Bah.

In far more frivolous news: I finally caved in and bought the extra icons. I'm up to 28 at this point, and some of them are actually (gasp) made by people who are not me. I think I'm mostly going to stick with my own work, though...

::points to current mood:: No small thanks to the making of the current icon whilst listening to "Jake's Pledge" from the Bros Grimm soundtrack.

Bah.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

...and that's my icon offering for the day. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rocknlobster for the idea!

I've got a new layout, in case you didn't notice yet.

I haven't really been doing much lately, have I? No, most of my action is inward. At least I'm not the only one going through spiritual... I don't want to call it turmoil. Restlessness? That's better. I slept a fevered sleep last night after meditating on... certain things. Yeah.

And then I slept three hours today on the couch and dreamt that I was on vacation with my parents and all our luggage got stolen by a group of teenage boys in a green minivan. I smashed their car's window with a golf club but good as they drove off. And then I called 911.

The title is "It's a Carnival Out There". I'm using my (albiet unfinished) Ben Hawkins mood set. And all the icons are of meee. Except I kept the Hufflepuff one cause I loves it.
a_leprechaun: (ben puff)
I found myself with an extra icon space, and decided to occupy it with a Hufflepuff icon. I went searching around a bit, and actually found quite a number of available ones... but in the end, I decided to carry out the tradition of only using my own handmade icons when I got the idea to put Ben Hawkins on it.

No, that isn't supposed to be Stephen S (although I suppose you could take it that way also), but 'Carnivàle's Ben Hawkins. Yes, Ben is a 'Puff, and I shall tell you why:
-He has a very kind heart regarding those he cares about.
-He has little aversion to getting his hands dirty (like you had a choice in those days *cough*).
-He's incredibly stubborn, and doesn't enjoy being pushed around (even if he ends up getting pushed around a lot of the time).
-Simple process of elimination. He's not rash enough for Gryffindor, smart enough for Ravenclaw, or conniving enough for Slytherin. Thus....

I know this is an inordinate amount of time to spend talking about an icon, but I am still very proud of it because it kills four birds with one stone: Harry Potter, Carnivàle, Race, and Whenever I'm in a Hufflepuff Mood.

I am awesome. ::dances off::

500TH POST WOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Sooo, yeah. Made first contact with my college roomie ([livejournal.com profile] usagii) today, and she is superawesomecool. We are practically the same person o_O Except she is more... japanese. And I just like Japanese things ^_^;;

On a sadder note, my beloved Copper stalled on the way to kung fu. We've gotten her back in the harbor for now, but who knows what state she'll be in tomorrow? ;_;

Hang in there, old girl. You can make it.

P.S. How did Photobucket just revamp their entire look in, like, a day? o_O

It's Friends Only, so please go and comment if you wish to be added. ^_^

Also, I figured out how to customize the comment thingies! Wheee!!

G'night.

I actually made this icon for the purpose of using in the Carnivale community, but I didn't feel like just going there and posting about it without having anything else to say... So I decided to dump my new icon happiness onto you, my friends. Don't you feel lucky ^_^

It's hard making icons on this comp (my Mom's laptop)... she doesn't have Photoshop, so I can't just set the image to be 100x100 pixels... I had to redo this one three times because it kept being oversized (once by only 8 pixels! 8 PIXELS I SAY!).

Yeah, it's Friday. What else is there to say?

P.S. Visiting Sarah Lawrence tomorrow. Patricia, any tidbits thoughts from you about the school could be helpful in my interview (first college interview... eep!) ^_^

Anybody know a great cure for Writer's Block? Or Everything Block, really. Today, anything I try to do seems too diffucult. Which means I end up sitting here on the comp wasting time, hopelessly avoiding doing the things I'm really supposed to be doing. And I can't even do something useful with that wasted time, like write or draw, cause my creativity's been zapped off.

Ramblings About / By Me: aka my new User Info )

Oh yes, and about the new Journal Title- I really dunno what the heck it means. Chalk it up to a Matrix obsession and the fact that I am wearing my Golden Pants today.

And my new "name" is The Pyro Agent. Why? Just imagine Dilandau Albatou as an Agent... I am off to go draw that picture. Now.

New icon. You like? ^.^
