Yeah, it's random picspam time.

Back while I was packing up my room, I discovered "3rd Rock From the Sun" on TV Links (btw, if you've never been on that site before, I just did you a big favor. Or not, depending on how much of a waste you think TV shows are :P).

I eventually went out and bought half the series after being reminded of how much I loved it. And after watching many an episode over the last week or so, I've realized that Harry Solomon one of those characters I wouldn't need to buy anything new to dress like. In fact, most of his costumes bear striking resemblance to the kind of stuff I wore--or at least was into wearing--in high school.

Except perhaps for suspenders. I don't think I actually own a pair of those.

Point is, apparently this show was effecting my 10-year-old brain subconciously back in '96, cause I do remember liking Harry back then, but I don't remember thinking "I wanna dress like that guy." Except that I totally did.

While we're on the subject, I've made a whole buncha icons of "3rd Rock".

The rest are over at [livejournal.com profile] lepricons.

I just made the biggest icon post yet at [livejournal.com profile] lepricons. They're of the Takarazuka Moon Troupe and the Original Dutch cast of "Elisabeth". Go lookee, cause I worked hard on them. :)

Here be some teasers to compel you:

Sooo, [livejournal.com profile] lepricons!

In other news, break out the orange juice and tazo tea, cause I just woke up with a sore throat three days before musical theatre auditions.

I am not going to wallow in this. I'm going to deal with it. Nothing more to do.

Besides, I've got far greater problems in that I still don't know what I'm going to sing. X(
a_leprechaun: (delirious (gaius))

I just watched the ENTIRE second season of Battlestar Galactica.

I am a loon.

Anyone who knows my past history of favorite characters is free to guess who I immediately pounced on (though the icon probably is a good giveaway).

Speaking of which, I made icons.

^ This guy, I think I like. His stories are fast-paced, short and sweet, and my kinda modern-day fantasy. Must find more of his stuff...

I seem to be going through one of those times (they occur every so often) where things I usually take for granted, the things that make me unique, are re-occurring to me as though I'd never realized them before. Like the fact that I have a W as my middle initial. Not everyone has that.

I've also been observing my own physical habits for acting class. My tendency is to stand with with my weight on both feet, my torso tilted slightly back, and I'd rather sit down or lean on something than jut my hip out to one side (I'll do this sometimes, but I quickly tire of it). I like having pockets so I can put my hands in them. If I can't have that I need something to hold onto, or my arms start feeling useless. I find it harder to keep still than most people seem to.

I prefer to show something other than boredom or neutrailty on my face whenever possible. It gives the impression that something's actually happening inside my skull.
Whether or not that is currently the case.

Going in a completely different direction now... I've created a journal for my visual arts. Not drawings persay, but more computer-y graphics: icons, videos and the like. There's nothing there yet, but if you'd like to you can go and friend [livejournal.com profile] lepricons.

Narnia icons like woah. I made all of these in the space of approximately 1.5 hours. Speed demon!

Never been a big user of the tiny-text icons myself, but I can't deny that they are pretty. So there are some of those in here.
However, since I don't believe in trusting an icon you can't understand (unless that's its purpose), each comes with a handy key.

Go behind the cut to see...

and you ask me what i want this year... )

I'm all alone on a Sunday night/Monday morning, so what am I doing of course? Making icons!

These are of the Narnia variety. Pics are from jamesmcavoy.com and NarniaWeb. Skillz are from my new god, [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorial.

Tumnus icons w/ some slightly spoilery commentary )

While we're at it, my general thoughts on Narnia )

And, in case anyone didn't know, I am officially home for the holidays. Wheee!

Blows your mind, man. No really, read it. Then go to the official website.

The source for today's icon. Fweee.

I want today to be over. :( But for that to happen, I need to do homework, laundry and packing.
Or I could just waste hours on the internet. But unfortunately that is far less productive.

Hope everyone else is having a fantastico day. :P

Methinks someone in Evanston was mixing up some Suudsu. On the sidewalk today I passed a puddle of what was probably milk strewn with what were unquestionably gummi bears.
I'd wondered how long it was gonna be before I heard about people actually making it.

Tonight I'm finally going to see "Good Night and Good Luck", because it won't be long before Century Theatres isn't playing it anymore. I encourage everyone out there to catch it if you haven't yet--not only cause it's well-made, or cause Edward Murrow and Fred Friendly were butt-kicking badasses, but also cause the latter was my grandfather. Hee!

Can't quite put my finger on it, but I really am preferring living in an apartment to dorm life. I think a part of it is the self-sufficiency inherent in apartment life: buy and cook your own food, take out your own trash, clean your own bathroom. There's a certain satisfaction in the responsibility.
Not to mention lugging groceries back from Jewel is a great workout. I am not kidding.

Yesterday, stumbled across the fact that Ducktales and Rescue Rangers are being released on DVD. This has new-kindled my hope that the short-lived and highly under-appreciated 'Bonkers' (quite possibly my first true fandom) will also find its way onto DVD soon. After all, it was also part of the Disney Afternoon lineup.

So I did what I always do in these situations. I made icons.
Feel free to snag if you, like me, love you some bobcat. ^____^ I only ask that you credit.

I also made myself a Bonkers "wtf?" icon, because I believe everyone needs at least one good "wtf?" icon. But I'd prefer that you didn't yoink that one.

...Because I can't help it that Inara/Mal reminds me vaguely of Phédre/Joscelin.

Plus I just really wanted an excuse to use that quote in an icon.

[livejournal.com profile] lanthiriel showed me this website.

The faery in me is so squeeful right now.

If we do end up going next summer, I know exactly what I want to wear. Perhaps with a Wendy Klein mask. One of the simpler ones.

There is much time to plan.

Constantine--a friend of mine from high school who joined the Marines--friended me on Facebook today.
My first thought was, "Thank God he's alive."
I never actually knew whether he was sent to Iraq or wherever, but I wouldn't doubt it if he had.

In far more frivolous news: I finally caved in and bought the extra icons. I'm up to 28 at this point, and some of them are actually (gasp) made by people who are not me. I think I'm mostly going to stick with my own work, though...

::points to current mood:: No small thanks to the making of the current icon whilst listening to "Jake's Pledge" from the Bros Grimm soundtrack.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

...and that's my icon offering for the day. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rocknlobster for the idea!

I've got a new layout, in case you didn't notice yet.

I haven't really been doing much lately, have I? No, most of my action is inward. At least I'm not the only one going through spiritual... I don't want to call it turmoil. Restlessness? That's better. I slept a fevered sleep last night after meditating on... certain things. Yeah.

And then I slept three hours today on the couch and dreamt that I was on vacation with my parents and all our luggage got stolen by a group of teenage boys in a green minivan. I smashed their car's window with a golf club but good as they drove off. And then I called 911.

You belong in House Orchis. You think the main
purpose in life is to find joy, you enjoy
things that are funny and make you laugh. Your
motto is "Joy in laughter."

And now, more Grimminess.

Saw "The Aristocrats" tonight. The parents weren't too fond of it, but I thought it was hilarious. Guess that shows you something about my sense of humor.

I got accepted to The Waste Land! Not only that, but I got a bonus. I apped as George Weasley (and was actually wondering, what with the one-character-per-player rule, how he was going to get along without his other half) and was offered both twins!! Ooh, this is going to be muchfun.

Back to movies, though. Two nights ago, "The Brothers Grimm". 'Terry Gilliam' and 'genius' are two phrases that should be often heard in the same sentence.

And because when a movie is that badass I have to do some kind of fanwork... I made icons.

you have to take the journey )

And just for good measure... My George app, because I am proud of it )
a_leprechaun: (ben puff)
So after making my Ben Hawkins/Hufflepuff icon, I said, "Why not sort some other Carnivàle characters?"

Let the Sorting Begin )

Because of this, I am now much better acquainted with Photoshop's "Gradient Overlay" feature. w00t for that.

Now if only I could get myself to study...

(Icons cross-posed to [livejournal.com profile] carnivale_icons.)

EDIT: Hmm, and there seems to be a debate over the placement of Rita-Sue... (she's the blonde woman I placed in Slyth, for those who don't know)

a_leprechaun: (ben puff)
I found myself with an extra icon space, and decided to occupy it with a Hufflepuff icon. I went searching around a bit, and actually found quite a number of available ones... but in the end, I decided to carry out the tradition of only using my own handmade icons when I got the idea to put Ben Hawkins on it.

No, that isn't supposed to be Stephen S (although I suppose you could take it that way also), but 'Carnivàle's Ben Hawkins. Yes, Ben is a 'Puff, and I shall tell you why:
-He has a very kind heart regarding those he cares about.
-He has little aversion to getting his hands dirty (like you had a choice in those days *cough*).
-He's incredibly stubborn, and doesn't enjoy being pushed around (even if he ends up getting pushed around a lot of the time).
-Simple process of elimination. He's not rash enough for Gryffindor, smart enough for Ravenclaw, or conniving enough for Slytherin. Thus....

I know this is an inordinate amount of time to spend talking about an icon, but I am still very proud of it because it kills four birds with one stone: Harry Potter, Carnivàle, Race, and Whenever I'm in a Hufflepuff Mood.

I am awesome. ::dances off::
